Homework?

This week Burning Hearts Youth Group strayed away from the normal lesson and was shown how I do my daily Devotional. The first thing I heard was “This looks like homework!” Now I am a paper and pen kinda gal. I have a notebook just for my Jesus notes. I like the devotionals with little boxes of questions that make you read the passage over again, till you really find your own observation. My favorite box is ‘How will you apply this to tomorrow?’ Oh Man, as much as that question stumps me I also love the that it reminds me! The Word of God is a everyday practice, it is not something I read and study then put away and go on with my day. NO no, God is a Daily Practice! A lawyer does not go to law school and then put the books on a shelf and get a job as a Vet. They practice their studies everyday, Mastering their craft to become the best they can be. So why do Devotions feel like homework? Why are we so quick to say this is to much work I’m just going to read it and pray and that’s my Daily take? Should we not long for the lectures, classroom debates and personal homework. Should we not feel the need to write long winded essays Oh The books of the Bible? Like College, Our devotions are the courses to Heaven. Complete with the Perfect text book full of all the answers. Hands on practice of becoming like him! With all you do how is right there in the Word! Getting it wrong? You need only ask for his guidance and He will lead you. When college is over you go in to the world on your own, but not us. We are filled with the Holy Spirit and all things are possible through him who gives us strength. He will never leave us nor forsake us and when we feel as though we are at our end he will carry us through it all. The most amazing part, We are blessed to know that the final exam is only to believe and give your life to Christ. You have already Passed.

Here are a couple Devotional Sheets we
